Currently Residing at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane!

Let me explain. Monday morning (June 15th) I called my physician in Spokane for an appointment, as I was having a few “issues”. I was able to get an appointment that very afternoon at 3:15pm. When I explained my symptoms (and he noticed my very yellow skin) he immediately thought GALLSTONE or GALLBLADDER. But more tests were needed on Tuesday morning. So I went to my sister’s and spent the night, got up early on Tuesday for an 8am ultra sound. Doctor saw results of that and said that there definitely was a stone, so he sent me over to see a surgeon. That doctor said he wanted to admit me to the hospital for a few more tests, so they did some paperwork and physically walked me over to hospital admitting.

Before 1pm I was admitted and sitting on 5th floor South in my “new room”. I went down for a CAT scan around 3pm, then spoke with an oncology surgeon around 8pm. He wanted to do some more work today (Thursday), so at least I got a late lunch and a little dinner last night. Then NPO after midnight.

This morning I got up and took an early shower before heading down for a liver biopsy and then a second procedure (or scope) to try to put in a stint to temporarily bypass the blocked bile ducts from the liver. Unfortunately, after almost an hour of trying, they were unable to get at the necessary area by going down my throat. So they woke me back up and returned me to my room in time for a little Jell-O and water for lunch. Tomorrow they’re suppose to be going back in through the liver and give me a temporary drain tube so that we can get that awful bile out of my system and clear up the liver. At that point I’m guessing we’ll at the very least be removing the gallbladder.

Only time will tell what is really going on with me, but for now I would ask that you keep me in your prayers. I do have my cell phone with me, but keep it off most of the time, checking for messages maybe one or two times a day. I’m leaving this in God’s hands. He is an awesome God and I know that if I am meant to be healed, I will be.

………………….It is now Sunday morning. I was released from the hospital yesterday morning and my friends (Carol & Sue) from Tri-Cities brought me to my sister’s. I’m still pretty lethargic, but I did manage to pop in the shower this morning and then scramble a couple eggs. I ate most of the eggs and some applesauce. Doing nothing sounds really good.

Before I was released on Saturday my doc came in and said the RESULTS OF THE LIVER BIOPSY WERE NEGATIVE. But there still is a mass somewhere, so more tests are needed. Monday or Tuesday I’m supposed to be going in for a PET Cat Scan. (If you remember from my brother, he said that PET must stand for “Pretty Expensive Test”). I can’t seem to stay up and alert for very long, so please excuse me if this blog makes no sense.

I’ll post again soon.

Hi Phyllis,

Wow, it sounds like you had an eventful week! I'm glad to hear that the liver biopsy was negative. I hope they can get to the bottom of whatever is causing issues and fix you right up. Please keep updating the blog. I'm thinking of you and hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
