We Have Arrived

Departed Keswick this morning at 10am. Stopped at a rest area before Richmond to see if we could get WiFi access to find a nearby geocache. Carol had seen it online the night before, but didn't jot down the coordinates. Unfortunately, we couldn't get online, so all of those caches were left "unfound".

Made it through Richmond with no trouble, despite all of the switches from left lane to right lane to get onto the proper freeway. Whew.........Carol was relieved.

Pulled into Bethpage (the huge RV park where Carol will be working until mid-November). She had a choice of three campsites. After viewing all sites, Carol chose a corner site next to some really nice neighbors, all fellow "workampers" from Connecticut.

Had to wait for lawn maintenance to swing by to mow our camp site before we could back in and set up shop. After that, Carol will be responsible for mowing her own lawn. This was the first time we have run the water through her water filter. We also opened up two boxes that contained brand new white tire covers, read the instructions, and got them all set up. So now her tires won't get sun damage during the next 6-1/2 months.

Carol wandered around and met a few neighbors and fellow workers. She made a list of items she needed to finish setting up camp, and we piled into her car. But before heading to town, we drove around the campground to check everything out.

We don't have good cell phone access here, so for the most part, unless we are on the road somewhere, there won't be phone calls.

Had to drive 24 miles to the closest town that had a WalMart. Bought supplies & food, then went to a restaurant called Ruby Tuesday. They're very prevalent in the east and south, but I had never heard of them. Have you?

Got home in time to play another round of Cribbage. After I lost very badly tonight, the series is tied 3-to-3.

We just discovered that there is a Costco store less than 30 miles from here, in Newport News, Virginia. We're also going to be hitting the geocaching circuit.

Carol doesn't know if she is going to start working on Friday or not. May 1st was suppose to be her start date, but they're telling her now that she doesn't necessarily have to start on the 1st. But she gets to meet with the gal that actually manages the workampers in the morning.

We've had a big day today and it's after 11pm, so I'm going to call it a night. Hopefully I'll have time to take some pictures and download to this site tomorrow. Until then.
