Surgery

Okay............all the docs in Seattle (team of 5-7) are saying it IS Pancreatic Cancer.

However, I've never done anything really "normal", so of course I have other issues. My gall bladder developed an abscess and blew a hole through the gall bladder into the liver. If it had to blow, going towards the liver was ideal. Otherwise, it would have been (or lead to) pancreatitis, which I understand is more serious. So they are going to be doing another procedure and putting in another temporary drain bag to help get rid of all of this infection. They're going to do that either Monday or Tuesday @ the UW. I thought it would be Monday, but nobody called me Friday to set it up. We'll call Monday to find out the "rest of the story".

As of now, the timeline (tentatively) is:
  • 8/13 - Another CAT scan with contrast dye (oh, by the way.........those are really fun!)
  • 8/14 - Pre-op visit with surgeon (Dr. Gary Mann)
  • 8/19 - Surgery . . . (this is an 8-10 hour procedure) More on that later

..................Oh, I'm currently residing in Lynnwood with cousins Bob & Corie. I'm not even sure if I asked if I could come here. I just kind of called and said something like "I'm on my way". After all of my visits Friday, Sue dropped me off and headed back home to the Tri-Cities. It's nice to feel loved. Actually, I truly feel at home here. Which is a good thing, because they sure do pick on me a lot.

Got up this morning and didn't feel very good. So went back and took a 3-hour nap and feel much better. I even managed to eat a little bit of lunch (meat and potato salad). So far it has stayed down.

Life goes on, even if it is a different path than what I had planned out for this summer. I'm surrounded by a competent medical team as well as lots of people that love me . . . and I love each and every one of you as well.

Will continue to post as this latest adventure unfolds. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers.

Hi Phyllis, I have been thinking about you and the storm that seems to be raging in your life right now but it appears that as the storm rages that God truly is calming his child. I am thankful for the faith you have. I will continue to hold you in my prayers & will be watching your blog for updates.
Mary Ellen, Wayne, Virginia and ME grandson visited the farm for a couple weeks but have returned to WI. Palmer is still on the farm, hoping to spend a few more weeks there. I visited with ME this morning and suggested may be Carol Ann come on the train to MT and spend a few days with her Dad and drive back with him.
Palmer looks well but sometimes just has a very hard time coming up with words he wants to say. He knows what he wants to say but just can't seem to come up with the right words.
All is well here. We have a new grandson, Ty.
My Dad stays with us at night. He goes to his house during the day to feed his cats and just hang out and get away from me a little! He does pretty well but has slowed down considerably.
Hope you're not to bored with my little update.
Take care my friend & may God be at your side during this journey in your life, Love Nancy
