….And the Results Are In

After wondering what all of the tests I’ve taken lately would show, I got to visit with my doctor yesterday. She said that both the x-ray and the complete-body bone scan indicated NO CANCER. Do I hear a big “Amen”?

This initially means that we can move ahead with the radiation plans. We have to do things with certain timing and in a certain order. The PET scan has to be taken a certain number of days after the end of chemo in order to get an accurate reading. So it will be “roughly” 3-4 weeks after chemo before radiation starts. And it will be scheduled for 5 days per week for 5-6 weeks (I think). So if everything from here on out goes like clockwork, I should be completely done by the end of May, which will give me two full weeks to recover before my big trip.......Not a lot of time, but certainly do-able.  Just have to keep my attitude focused.

Remember I said that I wasn’t going to be getting chemo this week because my platelets were too low? Well, they’re going to try again tomorrow, with a blood draw scheduled for 11:00am. Then if the results are within the correct range, we’ll do chemo.

With the bone scan results, my PT was re-evaluated today and they think they know what is causing the pain. Something about the way I shift my weight from my left foot to my right foot. To the right is pretty normal, but the left side is, well….bad. They gave me a couple exercises to do to get me back on track. When I asked how I expect to correct 65 years of walking incorrectly, she said “concentration”. We’ll give it a try.

After PT, I met up with a friend and we saw the movie Avatar. I really had no idea what to expect. It was phenomenal. Loved the 3D glasses. I had a couple times where I wanted to fall asleep, as I wasn’t used to being up that long. But it was well worth it to stay awake.

The horses got another afternoon out on pasture. They weren’t nearly as excited this time, but still did enjoy their little outing.

It’s nice to know that prayers are answered. When I called my sister Wednesday to give her the results, she said “oh, I’m soooooo glad. That’s what I was praying for all night last night”. I guess she can be up one night praying about me! But I know that she was not alone. There are many, many of you that continue to be my prayer warriors. And I love you for it. Thanks for being there for me. I feel the love. God has given me great friends.
