A Day Full of No's

..............And that's a GOOD thing!

Had my final visit with my oncology surgeon this morning. He said I keep looking better and better every time he sees me. Here are some of the things done:

  1. No more TPN (nutrition IV.....even though it was only 6 hours, I'm glad that's done)
  2. No more PICC line (they took it out during the visit)
  3. No more staying at the Rehab place (I get to go home tomorrow - [Wednesday]) ....... FYI, cousin Zip is driving me back to the Tri-Cities

When I got back from my first appointment this morning, I had company. It was Rich & Trudy, a couple from church. I was really very surprised to see them. He had an appointment yesterday in Federal Way, so they stayed overnight so that they could come visit with me today. How very sweet.

After taking a nap after lunch, I had Occupational Therapy and then headed downtown in a taxi for a 4:30 appointment with my regular oncologist at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). It was after 5pm when I actually got to see the doc, but he spent almost 1-1/2 hours with me.

My surgeon said that as far as he was concerned, I could start chemo anytime. So Dr. Whitting was going to arrange a consult with an oncology guy in the Tri-Cities. It will be nice to get that started. I guess they only use one drug and it is very well tolerated. No nausea, no feeling tired or lousy, and no losing hair. So we shall see.

Next update from Eastern Washington. YEA, YIPPEE, YEE HAW, WHOOPEE!!!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your prayers. Together we have made it through this phase of the journey.

Love & hugs,

Well I thought the no TPN (yuck, much more fun to eat real food) and the no PICC line (not fun and an infection risk) were good things. But man, get down to #3 and I'm thinking "Woo hoo!" how exciting to be heading home. I know you still have a long journey ahead of you, but at least you'll be home. It sounds like you have great friends back home who can help jump in and lend a hand when needed. Home, home, home- such a wonderful place to be!

So glad to know you are heading home. I know how nice it will be to walk into your home, cuddle up in your chair and just relax. I will drop by in a couple of days to check in on you.
