Red candles. In his later years, my father used to ALWAYS light a red candle on November 11th. It was to remember his mother, whose birthday was on this date. I was in awe that my father would honor his mother in such a way. He always seemed so gruff and strong and powerful. This was a softer side of daddy that I rarely saw.
And for my grandma Mary’s birthday to be on Armistice Day – November 11. How special.
So, if you get the chance, drag out your red candles and light one in remembrance of my grandma Anderson.
Ouch.
